As UMR Unit director, he heads the state-of-the-art laboratory sensorimotricity platform called “COGNAC-G” standing for COGnition and ACtion Group at Paris Descartes University with unique skills in nurturing cooperation between mathematicians, engineers and clinicians. He founded it after observing that the new technologies in videogame industry, biotechnologies, internet were developing non-invasive or minimally invasive tools at reasonable costs to quantify the behavior of individuals through biological, psychological, sociological indicators along with genotypes
"COGNAC G" is a multidisciplinary clinical research ecosystem that monitors and studies Human groups (ethomics) in the long-term, the ones which are engaged in complex behavioral tasks during a long stretch of time. These groups also called “High Maintenance Cohorts” HMC are very diverse and will inevitably increase. HMC includes military groups in active duties, athletes at high levels of competition, patients with neurological diseases, patients in reeducation, psychiatric patients, people with heavy chronic handicaps, very senior citizens
The COGNAC G aims at reaching 3 objectives: learn how to monitor and quantify the behavior of the HMC, both at the sensorimotor and cognitive level, investigate how to use these measurements to build and exploit large data banks on human behavior, use databanks to the benefit of the HMC, to train them to complex sensorimotor tasks, to prevent physiological and psychological hardship potentially caused by these tasks, to detect pathologies at their onset, and to personalize their treatments.
Out of these studies, many spin-off applications are possible cross-sectors including healthcare but also education and active healthy living
